They say ‘Owning a Blog is No Longer a Luxury but rather a Necessity’. How true!
And so is social media marketing.
As the real focus of this ebook is on social media and in the true spirit of it, let’s take a look at the meaning of blogging from the s-o-c-i-a-l m-e-d-i-a perspective.
Selling – Blogging opens a window of countless opportunities. One of those is the opportunity to sell your product and/or service. Most bloggers, if not all, are online entrepreneurs who blog passionately for money.
What it takes is trust, credibility and the right product. Just be sure that the kind of product/service you want to sell on your blog should be relevant, of value and could really make a difference in their life.
Originality – There are more than 70 millions blogs on the internet. The challenge is how you can differentiate yourself from crowd if you take away originality from the equation.
Suffice to say, to stand apart from the sea of blog mediocrity, you can’t afford to present about your blog without originality. What is the use of blogging if it is not your own idea, right?
If you’re going to stay longer in the game, you need to remember the golden rule of blogging that has remained the same over the years, that is “originality wins the day”.
Connecting – Establishing connection with your readers is ever so important when it comes to blogging. Being an interactive platform, a blog is a fantastic way to connect you with your readers.
Don’t hide behind the veil of internet. Be true. Your readers deserve to know who you are and whom they are dealing with. Going back to the first point, if you are planning to sell something, how could you build trust if you don’t make an effort to connect with your readers? In much the same way, how could credibility exist when you remain anonymous?
INNOVATION – In order to keep your readers engaged, you need to innovate. In an ever competitive blogosphere, bloggers who don’t make an effort to be innovative are far more likely to lose to the competition.
It doesn’t need to be a drastic change. A simple twist such as inviting guest bloggers to write once in a while helps to inject fresh, new ideas into your blog and keep your visitors coming back for more.
Authority – There’s more to a weblog (blog) than just a personal journal. Many businesses are now using this powerful marketing tool to establish authority in their respective fields.
However, authority is not something that comes quickly. You need to build it slowly and steadily. And certainly blogging allows you to do that.
LEARNING – Blogging is a journey of learning. As you go through the process, you’ll soon realize that blogging helps in many ways expand your horizon and broaden your knowledge base.
If you’re still on the fence, the take home message is this, “Start your own blog today, you’ll never know where it would take you to”. The possibilities are limitless.
MARKETING- Marketing through blogging is a great way to build relationships with either your readers or customers. Marketing is often seen as the backbone of both offline and online business.
What better way to market your product and service through blogging. Not only it could reach to bigger audience, it’s much easier to keep long-term relationship with your base of customers.
EDUCATE- If you want to start a blog to educate yourself, that’s perfectly fine. Is a journey of learning, right?
And to touch upon what I have said earlier on the subject of authority, blogging allows you to build the kind of authority you have in your chosen field by educating your readers with a base of knowledge that might have some significance for them.
Heck, even Obama uses his blog to educate his voters.
Design and branding – When they say, First impression is the most important, they don’t lie.
It’s my belief that if your content is to engage, your design is to attract. Studies has shown that you’ve only got less than 10 seconds to impress your visitors or you’ll likely lose them to your competitors.
It’s the only thing that sets you apart from the pack. Make it as unique as possible or better still make it remarkable.
Intentions – Everyone comes into the blogosphere with a purpose, an intention. Either to share the passion to write or to earn some decent income online. Whatever it may be, a solid, well thought out intention gives one a sense of direction.
You can’t start a blog without a purpose. Your blog is pretty much a reflection of what you intend to achieve in the first place. So get it right out of the gate.
Approachability – Approachability wins business. We live in a culture of sales resistance. Nowadays consumers are skeptical prior to purchase. The same is true of your readers prior to subscribing to your blog.
Whether your visitors can be turned into happy subscribers is pretty much hinged upon the way you deal with your audience. Trust is simply built upon your personality and approachability. Period.
There you have it folks. The meaning of blogging in the eyes of s-o-c-i-a-l m-e-d-i-a.
